Fnatic Ends Sentinels’ Masters Run
The VALORANT Masters Toronto lower bracket saw North America’s Sentinels eliminated by EMEA’s last-standing representative, Fnatic, in a tense 2-1 series. Despite Sentinels entering the match with strong momentum, Fnatic overcame their map pool disadvantage to stay alive in the tournament.
Sentinels Strike First, But Fnatic Fires Back
The series began on Sunset, a map heavily favored by Sentinels due to Fnatic’s consistent ban of Pearl. Sentinels looked in control early, dominating defensively and holding Fnatic to just four rounds in the first half. Although Fnatic mounted a small comeback in the second half, it was a crucial clutch by Marshall “N4RRATE” Massey that sealed a 13-9 victory for Sentinels.
Fnatic responded on Ascent with a refined Chamber-Vyse setup that caught Sentinels off guard. Leveraging diverse attack plans, they closed out the first half 8-4. With control of both pistols, Fnatic cruised to a 13-7 win, forcing a decider.
Icebox: Alfajer Dominates in Decider
The final map, Icebox, delivered the most competitive first half of the series. Sentinels took the early lead, but Fnatic scraped together five rounds with clutch plays and thrifties. The second half was all Fnatic, who dusted off vintage 2021 tactics to overwhelm Sentinels. Emir “Alfajer” Beder stood out, delivering a staggering 418 ACS and a 16/5 K/D on attack with sniper weapons. Fnatic took the map 13-9 and the series 2-1.
G2 Overcomes Gen.G in Strategic Slugfest
Earlier in the day, G2 Esports outlasted Gen.G Esports in another 2-1 battle. Despite winning just one pistol round, G2’s strategy and resilience carried them through. Their decision to deploy Yoru and Tejo on Lotus proved decisive as they took a 10-2 lead and eventually won the map 13-7. IGL Jacob “valyn” Batio delivered an especially strong performance.
On Haven, Gen.G bounced back with improved coordination, narrowly securing a 13-11 victory despite stiff resistance from G2. The match concluded on Icebox, where Gen.G took an 8-4 lead at halftime. But G2 clawed back with eight straight rounds, led again by valyn’s expert mid-round calls, to take the map 13-11 and the series.
